Spine TV Studio Session

On Saturday I helped out at my first Spine TV Studio Session, I was doing guestlist so I was sat outside most the night, it was sick tings though!

Our location was Tad's house, which is crazy. This guy lives in Stoke Newington, in a "house" with a huge studio room covered in murials and graffiti, DJ decks at one end, stage at the other, sofas in one corner and a bar in the next! Oh and can't forget the 3 bedrooms, kitchen and bathroom off of the studio room. I an attempt to sound proof and darken the venue we taped sofa cusions and rugs to the windows. Pretty ingenious if you ask me, but it was still pretty loud.

Our night was also sponsored by Havana Club, so free Rum galore, and everyone knows Rum and Coke is my drink ;o) First things first me and Chan cut up about 40 limes, and I realised my hands were covered in random little cuts, as that stang like a muh fucker.

As well as our guestlist, a lot of the neighbours turned up to enjoy the free drink and music. The characters at this party were epic. Black Nerds Network quoted the night was "with out doubt it was the best atmosphere...party...show of the year so far!!!" I met the infamous David Elvis, some any 67 year old Elvis impersonator. He seranaded me, showed me photos of himself dressed as Elvis, he even showed me some moves, which had me quite worried as he looked like he was going to break something (that something most likely to be his hip). There was Steve, who never takes off his roller skates like ever, and he was pretty pissed that he was down as a plus one to get into his own house for a party, he also told me he was a dog whisperer and that he owned a mini bus... There was also that girl who had a bush of yellow flowers in her hair that kept crying... Obviously there were some relatively normal characters at the session, but either way everyone was super friendly, it really was a great atmosphere.

Performing on the night we had Analog Renaissance and United Vibrations. From outside I obviously didn't see the performances, but they sounded amazing.

Flick - Flick - Pose

So a while back, my mate Mercy Grace called me to let me know she had some studio time booked that she had forgotten about and did I want to make use of it? Of course I did! So that night I got my styling hat on and raided through my wardrobe to put together a few looks. Being so last minute, I played the role of stylist, hair & make-up, and model. To be fair I think I did a damn good job. Not to mention Mercy's photography being amazing too.

These are a few of my favourites from the bunch:

We Are Cuts

Those of you that follow me on Twitter, will probably always see me tweeting about my shinanigans at work. I pretty much get paid to sit on my ass, answer the phone, go to the pub and generally fuck about its great!
I've worked at Cuts for 4 years now surrounded by guys, which is probably why I'm now more comfortable with having guy friends, than girl friends and also why I so comfortable with the homos.
We Are Cuts, has been in Soho for almost 30years and has developed an iconic status. The shops latest move has seen it relocate from Frith Street to a quiet little mews off of Dean Street. My favourite place to sit with an alcoholic beverage is on the bench under the palm trees in the square metre of sun that reaches the court yard.

This is what I get up to, usually after hours:

Each month we exhibit a different artists works, we've already had Goldie, Siobhan Bradshaw and now we have Helen Beard.

Do come down and have a cut or colour or even just chill and soak up the ambience!
